The Shipping/Receiving Associate is responsible for achieving immediate and short-term shipping & receiving objectives laid down by the Shipping Manager. This position requires near perfect attendance and punctuality. Employees are expected to be in their department area before the shift starts. Reasonable overtime hours may be required to meet department needs. This position reports directly to the Shipping Manager. Supervisory Responsibilities: None FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Requirements

  • Team Player.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Solid record keeping skills with the ability to accurately input data.
  • Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes.
  • Basic arithmetic skills.
  • General computer competency to include use of internet, CRM system and other programs used to support the shipping process.
  • Ability to correctly complete shipping documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year work history or military service with honorable discharge preferred.
  • Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers, customers, vendors, and management.
  • Heavy lifting (50lbs) is required on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
  • Prolonged periods working on feet.
  • Manual dexterity to evaluate, modify, and operate machinery and equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions and operate machines.
  • Temperature of work environment ranges from 15 - 110°F.
  • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. Hours subject to change at the discretion of management. Overtime is required as needed to support production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with scheduling trucks, containers, ground, and air shipping.
  • Prepares bills-of-laden (BOLs) and other shipping documents.
  • Communicates with internal and external parties to convey transit times, freight costs and other shipping-related information.
  • Receives incoming packages and distributes appropriately.
  • Handles general clerical tasks such as record keeping, filing, data entry, and answering phones.
  • Minimizes material waste.
  • Follows all safety guidelines and reports violations, accidents and near misses to supervisor.
  • Follows instructions given by supervisor.
  • Responsible for housekeeping within department and the entire facility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
