About The Position

Summary The Shipping Clerk I is responsible for preparing, verifying, and processing outgoing shipments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. The Shipping Clerk I position supports shipping operations by coordinating documentation, packaging verification, and carrier scheduling while maintaining accurate records in the ERP system. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned. Prepare and process outgoing shipments according to company procedures and customer requirements. Verify shipping documentation including packing slips, bills of lading, certificates of conformance, and other required paperwork. Ensure product quantities, serial numbers, lot numbers, and manufacturing dates match shipping documentation. Coordinate shipments with carriers and schedule pickups. Maintain accurate shipment records in the ERP or shipping system. Communicate with internal departments to resolve shipping discrepancies or delays. Follow company safety procedures and quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized shipping area. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED required. 0–2 years of shipping, warehouse, or logistics experience preferred. Basic computer skills or experience with ERP/shipping software is a plus. Language Skills Ability to read and understand work instructions, shipping documents, and basic technical information related to shipping and packaging procedures. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with managers, coworkers, and other departments regarding shipment status, documentation, or discrepancies. Mathematical Skills Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to count and verify quantities of parts, materials, and shipping units accurately. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but routine written and verbal instructions. Ability to identify basic discrepancies in shipping documentation, product labeling, quantities, or packaging and take appropriate action according to established procedures. Computer Skills Basic computer skills with the ability to enter data into shipping or ERP systems. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. May be exposed to moving machinery, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Must be able to work in areas with noise, temperature variations, and occasional dust or other typical warehouse conditions. Fast-paced environment with deadlines for shipment preparation and dispatch. Primarily works in a warehouse, shipping, or manufacturing environment. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to bend, reach, and move materials within the shipping area.
