About The Position

The Shipping Packager position at LaMotte Company involves responsibilities related to order fulfillment and packaging of shipments. The role requires the ability to read and implement written procedures, as well as basic math skills. The position is located in Chestertown, MD, and reports to the Distribution Manager. The pay rate for this position ranges from $17 to $18 per hour. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 3:45 PM.

Requirements

• Basic math skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and implement written procedures and policies.
• Previous experience in shipping and knowledge of shipping procedures for hazardous materials is a plus.
• Ability to learn packing software and operate carrier shipping software.
• Ability to transport packages up to 70 pounds frequently each day.
• Experience operating a pallet jack.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and color perception.
• Computer experience desired.

• Forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive customer orders from the Shipping Coordinator to pick parts for customer order fulfillment.
• Pick parts from various areas to fulfill each order, ensuring accurate quantity and part numbers.
• Take orders to the shipping packaging area for preparation and packing.
• Package shipments properly for the mode of transportation and according to customer requests.
• Ensure accurate preparation of packages as required by hazardous material regulations.
• Complete and attach documentation for various modes of transport.
• Weigh and process shipments at the manifest system.
• Run and distribute daily reports generated at manifest during the end-of-day close process.
• Perform all aspects of assembly line operation including box assembly and packing parts.
• Use the electronic scanning system to ensure accuracy of items for customer orders.
• Operate carrier software and mailing equipment.
• Assist in other department functions as needed, such as cutting kimpack and wrapping pallets.
• Participate in lean activities and continuously look for ways to improve efficiencies.
• Notify the Coordinator/Manager of any production, equipment, safety, or personnel problems.
• Provide feedback to determine where additional training would benefit.
