About The Position

The Shipping Lead will collaborate with our management team in a cross-functional setting to fulfill daily production requirements, deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers, and support and guide the team to enhance operational efficiency in the production of Insulating Glass for Residential Window and Door Manufacturers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating a sit-down forklift
  • Consistent work history in glass manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Shipping department preferred
  • Experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Yard Dog experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety practices and guidelines
  • Manage and lead a team of employees while fostering a culture of integrity, respect, and adherence to Cardinal values
  • Inspect racks for quality and verify the product is loaded accurately to meet or exceed Cardinal and customer expectations
  • Support and direct the team while also performing other operational duties as applicable
  • Coordinate with the Shipping Manager to review daily load schedules
  • Review the MTO report to confirm the day's load details
  • Communicate pass down information to the team regarding daily tasks as well as the following shift lead
  • Monitor the status of empty and full trailers both in the dock and on the curb
  • Ensure the crating area is fully stocked with necessary supplies
  • Provide support as a backup forklift operator or loader when required
  • Communicate with Offline Department when rack is not closed and to ensure product is set as priority
  • Timely send all emails and communications to carriers regarding load departures
  • Verify the accuracy of each completed load by creating a report before packing, ensuring that all racks are fully loaded
  • Operate the yard dog as needed
  • Prepare racks for the next shift and supervise the disposal of rejected glass
  • Ensure compliance with all SOPs and JHAs, including operator signoffs after verifying quantities and the overall quality of glass packing
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to meet daily objectives and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Inspect product for quality to meet or exceed Cardinal and customer expectations
  • Ensure open communication with manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor
  • Support management team with job related responsibilities
  • Aid management and team to ensure department expectations and goals are met while sustaining a positive environment
  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail
  • May be required to work overtime, different shifts, and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines
  • Requires regular in-person attendance
