About The Position

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Shipping Lead for our Wheatland Tube facility located in Rochelle, IL. Reporting to the Plant Manager. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Associate's Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Must be able to obtain overhead crane and forklift certification

Nice To Haves

  • SAP experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
  • Keep work area and/or equipment organized, clean and in a safe working condition
  • Ensure on-time, quality shipments of steel tubing to customers are achieved via the safe, efficient and economical utilization of shipping materials and labor
  • Coordinate the assignment of labor team members to the corresponding jobs and tasks to meet warehouse/production goals
  • Provide a leadership example in plant safety initiatives and programs
  • Ensure stacking and loading procedures are followed to prevent injury to team members and damage to material
  • Work with Quality Control Department regarding quality issues and ensure customer and quality standards are met at time of shipment
  • Report any process and equipment problems and take initiative with corrections and repairs
  • Monitor and direct cycle counts to maintain correct inventory
  • Participate in the training of newly assigned teammates on the shipper job responsibilities
  • Report any irregularities or malfunctions to supervisors, managers and/or maintenance
  • Perform all Shipper duties when covering lunches/breaks/vacations as required
  • Assist in the assignment of trucks to be loaded based on appointment time and truck arrival time
  • Coordinate with the Supervisor to assign personnel to appropriate jobs and tasks
  • Ensure continuity of shipping and warehouse flow, resolving issues as required
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
