About The Position

The Shipping I position is responsible for safely loading glass racks and preparing trucks for outbound deliveries. This role ensures that glass racks are properly loaded, secured, and placed onto delivery trucks using forklifts and other material-handling equipment. The position plays a critical role in maintaining safe handling practices, minimizing product damage, and ensuring shipments are loaded accurately and on schedule. Compensation: $19.50/hourly

Requirements

  • Strong focus on safety and attention to detail.
  • Ability to process shipping transactions in the ERP or shipping system to ensure accurate documentation and tracking of outbound shipments.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow shipping documentation and loading instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, and maneuver materials when necessary.
  • Ability to safely operate in areas with forklift and material handling traffic.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moving equipment and glass products.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Load finished glass onto racks and load trucks using forklifts or other material handling equipment.
  • Safely transport glass racks from the shipping staging area to loading docks.
  • Ensure racks are properly positioned and secured on trucks to prevent damage during transport.
  • Verify shipment quantities and rack identification against shipping documents before loading.
  • Work closely with the Shipping Coordinator and Shipping Team Lead to prioritize loading schedules.
  • Assist in organizing and staging finished goods racks in the shipping area for efficient loading.
  • Communicate with forklift operators, materials handling teams, and supervisors to maintain smooth shipping operations.
  • Inspect racks and glass products before loading to identify any visible damage.
  • Maintain proper rack placement and load balance within trailers.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures when handling glass and operating equipment.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and report any equipment issues.
  • Maintain clean and organized loading docks and shipping areas.
  • Perform required ERP transactions and scanning activities to support accurate shipping and shipment verification.
  • Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification.
