Requirements

  • This position prefers a General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma, Tow Motor License (training required )
  • Previous shipping and forklift experience a plus but not required.

Safely and efficiently use any assigned equipment.
  • Lean: Participate in and support lean manufacturing programs and principles with a focus to reduce costs with quality product such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Suggestion System, etc. Actively participate in Continuous Improvement to continually strive to improve our processes and procedures. Adhere to 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
  • Environmental: Employee is responsible for complying and supporting any environmental policies and programs put in place by BTD. Employee may not bring any environmentally hazardous substances or compounds into BTD and is always conscious of the impact on the environment. Support and adhere to Technical Specification (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned with enthusiasm and without complaint.
  • The employee is continually required to drive tow motor/ rack pickers to make sure shipments are done.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, use hand to fingers to handle or touch parts. Frequently pushing, pulling, lifting above shoulders, to pull parts.
  • The employee occasionally is required to unload, load trucks and pull parts from the racks at heights up to 25 feet.. The employee will also be required to frequently lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds.
  • The employee is continually exposed to weather conditions outside rain, sleet, hot, cold and wind. The employee is frequently exposed to hot, cold temperature outside and also may experience heights up to 25 feet. The employee is occasionally exposed to humidity and other weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Adequately knows all shipping procedures and is able to perform any floor activity in accordance with those procedures.
  • Adequately assist shipping personnel in preparation of parts for shipment and ensures accuracy of those shipments.
  • Precisely trains shipping personnel in all policies, procedures, and floor activities related to the Shipping Department.
  • Proficiently ensures that all trucks are loaded/unloaded properly and in a timely manner
  • Accurately updates carrier info and follows up on no-shows when needed.
  • Successfully assists in developing policies and procedures for the Shipping Department.
  • Accurately performs Yearly inventory.
  • Competently makes sure that all shipments for the shift are completed in a timely manner
  • Adequately performs dock audits for parts that have been re-labeled
  • Adequately knows of all computer functions and systems for the Shipping department.
  • Responsible for the operation of the Shipping department in the absence of the Shipping Manager/Supervisor.
  • Completely understands and is compliant to Batesville Tool & Die (BTD) standards and principles.
  • Adequately performs fork lift safety checks and reports issues if needed.
  • Coordinates daily ship schedule with Shipping Supervisor and other Group Leaders
  • Responsible for accurately pulling parts from manifest with rack motor up to heights of 25 feet.
  • Responsible for successfully cleaning the department and assigning duties to shipping associates
  • Based on company needs a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed.
