About The Position

As a Shipping Coordinator at Steel Technologies, your day-to-day responsibilities will include verifying and maintaining records on all outgoing shipments. We can guarantee your role will require multitasking, organization and time-management skills. You'll be responsible for helping Steel Technologies succeed by preparing items for shipment to our customers and ensuring their expectations are met. Essentially, you play a big part in getting the finished material into the right hands at the right time. The regular hours for this position are Monday - Friday 3:00 pm to 11:00pm. (When there are overtime hours, the scheduled hours are from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am)

Requirements

  • Ability to prepare shipping paperwork, inspect shipments, and dispatch freight to ensure accurate and on time delivery to customers
  • Ability to use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
  • Ability to multitask, time manage and prioritize
  • Ability to use AS400 shipping system
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Prepare bills of lading through AS 400 shipping system to ensure accuracy and best possible routing
  • Attach all certifications, matrixes, samples, and any other items required by shop or customer orders
  • Call and insure prompt pick-up/delivery schedules through truck lines per routing (sales, customer, and supervisor)
  • Inspect/Insure proper items loaded on trucks (check tags to bills before bills are signed).
  • Ensure trucks are loaded per loading instructions
  • Check all files/orders/customer sequence for possible loads/late orders and notify shipping supervisor
  • Ensure complete shipments, oldest items first
  • Ensure accuracy of documentation, paperwork, shipments, competitive rates, inventory turn, and on-time shipments
  • Account for all material and paperwork flow to office
  • Control flow of carriers to meet shipping requirements
  • Communicate non-compliance problems to supervisor and/or shift lead
