Responsibilities

Coordinate with shipping department on all outbound freight
Verify shipping rates and times
Compare shipping routes or methods to determine which have the most advantageous options to serve the customer and organization
Coordinate all “add-on” sale items, which can require freight adjustments to meet customer demand
Prepare all Bill of Lading documents (BOL)
Analyze and adjust delivery options as it relates to trailer space availability
Contact carrier representatives to plan or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes
Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped
Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy
Coordinate office events like training, quarterly meetings, and team lunches
Answer telephones to direct calls or provide information
Correspond with past-due accounts and collect payment
Communicates with vendors, external customers, and internal employees to facilitate successful business outcomes
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
