About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk responsible for coordinating freight and products to meet customer demands while maintaining internal inventory, ensuring data accuracy, and meeting tracking requirements. Extensive use and understanding of both internal and external PC systems are crucial for this role.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a shipping clerk or receiving clerk role in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
  • Experience working within Epicor (ERP software), LN, Shop Floor AIM, and AutoCor.
  • Experience monitoring and tracking inventory levels.
  • Experience coordinating and communicating internally and externally regarding shipment updates.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Email (Outlook) and Excel (formulas, opening tabs, adding/deleting columns and rows).
  • Steel-toed shoes required prior to starting.

Responsibilities

  • Review upcoming shipping requirements and research our ability to deliver products as requested.
  • Inform customers on the customer website of truck space needed in advance of actual shipping dates to avoid chargebacks for excess or shortfall situations.
  • Determine proper shipping container and pallet sizes needed to ship products without damage, and calculate floor space needed for each customer.
  • Inform dock and picking staff of containers needed and other shipping instructions to meet requirements in advance.
  • Print and write paperwork for outside vendor activities and forward to the shipping dock. Process paperwork received from outside vendors.
  • Develop pick lists and staging areas for pickers and dock staff to pull and stage products.
  • Review current inventory locations, schedules from outside vendors for returning products, and work in progress at Shelby/Madison, and communicate plans and activities needed to proper personnel or outside vendors.
  • Determine by customer codes if a product is domestic or international and assign proper containers or skids. Communicate this to dock employees.
  • Print all required paperwork, including packing slips, bar codes, waybills, and other international paperwork that may be required. Attach to boxes or containers or place inside containers as needed.
  • Write OE Pack instructions outlining special shipping requirements as needed.
  • Communicate with internal staff to act on blocked shipments and understand the internal process and system requirements to unblock sales orders and handle quality control issues.
  • Process outside vendor paperwork to place parts in inventory correctly.
  • Perform inventory transactions in proper accounts to receive parts into one inventory location or transfer and combine parts into another location.
  • Perform cycle counts as needed to ensure inventory accuracy.
