About The Position

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing castings for shipment to customers, ensuring that all necessary documentation, including quantities, part numbers, piece counts, serial numbers, and inspection documents, are correct and complete according to PCC and customer specifications. This role involves verification of documentation and parts before packaging, packaging and shipping castings per customer specifications, and adhering to safety practices in the workplace.

Requirements

• Previous shipping/receiving experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Legible handwriting.
• Ability to organize workloads efficiently and attend to details.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to seventy-five pounds.
• Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, and other elements for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Check documentation and parts before packaging.
• Verify that all necessary paperwork is correct and complete.
• Ensure that all accompanying documentation is complete, including inspection documents, test bars, and x-ray films.
• Verify that contents of shipments are correct and complete per shipping and inspection documents.
• Package castings per customer specifications to prevent damage during shipment.
• Assemble or construct wooden crates for shipments.
• Complete packing slips, bills of lading, air bills, etc.
• Build loads and combine shipments going to customers.
• Stage and warehouse orders awaiting shipment; organize shipment area.
• Operate forklift to move parts.
• Ensure that all documentation and packing slips accompany shipments.
• Notify carriers for shipment pickups and arrange for rush shipments.
• Load and unload trailers.
• Ship parts to vendors and mail items via UPS and overnight mail as requested.
• Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
• Safely operate all equipment and tools.
• Identify and report safety problems.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Perform other tasks as directed.
