Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); along with related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage activities related to shipment and delivery.
  • Manage and coordinate warehouse activities with personnel, shipments, deliveries, external and internal warehouse issues.
  • Manage departmental needs for supervisors, employees and outside carriers to resolve problems and issues in a timely efficient manner.
  • Maintain day-to-day operations within the shipping office.
  • Point person for all overseas, Canadian orders and most carriers.
  • Prepare export documentation for international orders.
  • Schedule appointments for shipments.
  • Ensure proper documentation is prepared for each load and forwarded to the correct person to allow the shipment to sail immediately to prevent delays.
  • Generate 'pick lists' from the computer terminal and compile the information against a shipment schedule.
  • Access the option menu daily and provide all pick lists for the following day's shipments.
  • Use the computer terminal to verify pick lists and create a shipment manifest.
  • Enter inventory data into the computer via the terminal, such as alphanumeric item identification numbers, quantities, code dates, etc.
  • Act as a liaison between the Company and common contract carriers; arrange for pick-ups, trailer drops, and minor load scheduling.
  • Compile 'daily shipment' report from shipping manifests.
  • Prepare memos and other communications to relevant departments as directed.
  • Log pertinent shift information for inter-shift communication.
  • Maintain filing system in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Create, prepare and maintain spreadsheets and databases to track departmental scorecards, salvage, and other projects as needed.
  • Train new employees, when needed, in SAP, email, and other job related computer functions.
  • Problem solve billing disputes, inventories and other shipment issues for internal and external warehouse(s).
  • Provide Customer Service to internal and external customers/carriers.
  • Assist Quality Assurance in tracking down products for recall or other quality issues.
  • Assist shift supervisor as needed.
  • Practice and adhere to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines and procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
  • Perform other job-related projects, duties and assignments as directed.
