About The Position

The Shipping Assistant at Hitchiner Manufacturing Co., Inc. is responsible for preparing and processing shipping paperwork, packing shipments accurately, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of clerical experience handling process paperwork.
• Valid driver's license.
• Demonstrable PC skills and proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications.
• Ability to perform simple typing duties.
• Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to obtain a valid lift truck license as needed.
• Working knowledge of international shipping requirements.

• Experience in manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with shipping software and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process shipping paperwork for parts and materials.
• Pack products accurately for shipment.
• Drive products and tools using automobiles or lightweight trucks.
• Check shipments to ensure compliance with customer requirements and internal procedures.
• Contact trucking companies for shipment pickups.
• Perform scheduled or unscheduled floor inventories.
• Order and maintain adequate stocks of shipping materials.
• Perform tracer actions on shipments as necessary.
• Record daily inventory and update records accordingly.
• Complete Process Sheet Count Verification forms and calculate overages and shortages.
• Calculate and report total pounds shipped per month for accounting purposes.
• Respond to various shipping inquiries and communicate with Sales and Production Control departments.
• Key shipping information into the computer for billing purposes.
• Type bills of lading and obtain proof of delivery from trucking companies.
• Follow all safety requirements and maintain a clean working environment.
