About The Position

Insteel Industries is seeking an experienced Forklift professional for a full-time position in our Shipping/Receiving department. The role involves operating forklifts to move materials in a close-quarter shipping yard, ensuring safety and efficiency in loading and unloading operations. The operator will be responsible for maintaining a neat work area, monitoring scrap dumpsters, staging raw materials, and making entries of shipping materials into the appropriate systems. The position emphasizes a commitment to safety, aiming for zero harm to employees and the environment.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years' forklift experience in heavy material handling.
• Ability to complete simple forms and understand simple written instructions.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
• Knowledge of safety equipment and safety procedures for shipping/receiving operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts safely in a close-quarter shipping yard.
• Load flatbed trucks and handle various materials of different sizes and weights.
• Maintain good housekeeping and a neat work area while loading and unloading material.
• Obtain forklift operator certification.
• Stage raw material (steel rod) at appropriate machines.
• Make entries of shipping material and cycle count quantities into the appropriate systems.
• Visually check the quality of finished products.
• Train others as needed and work closely with production employees.
