About The Position

PURPOSE Drives liquefied gas, or electric powered industrial truck to load and unload trucks, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials; processes required paperwork. Works as part of a team to ensure on-time deliveries.

Requirements

  • High school completion or GED preferred.
  • 1 plus years previous experience operating any type of forklift truck or previous forklift certification is needed.
  • Must maintain forklift operator certification.
  • Ability to work in a team work environment and good communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to read and understand documents related to the manufacturing process.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, shipping documents and Bills of Lading (BOL) and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects forklift according to checklist at beginning of shift and reports issues to Maintenance Department.
  • Replaces fuel tanks as needed and does other required light maintenance.
  • Operates forklift to transport incoming and outgoing materials to designated production or storage areas in a timely manner.
  • Verifies safety devices such as dock locks, wheel chocks, etc., are in place before entering trailers, following Semi-Truck Loading and Unloading procedure (SAF-0005)
  • Verifies loads and signs, dates and turns in paperwork.
  • Proactively stages loads for pickup.
  • Assists Production Forklift Operators and other employees to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Inspects raw materials prior to unloading and inspects finished goods before loading, and reports any quality issues.
  • Maintains clean and organized storage areas, keep exits clear and pallets safely stacked.
  • May package finished product to customer specifications
  • May help out in other areas of the plant.
  • Regular attendance and other duties as assigned.
