About The Position

The primary function of the Shipping and Receiving / Facilities Maintenance Associate is to perform a variety of tasks related to the acceptance items into the lab and the shipment of items from the lab. As well as performing routine facility maintenance functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus two (2) to four (4) years of relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the company.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record under Element’s policy, or ability to obtain prior to beginning employment.
  • Must be certified to operate a fork truck and scissor lift.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Self-disciplined and self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • International shipping and receiving experience is desired.
  • Experience working with Quality Management Systems (i.e. ISO 17025 and ITAR Regulations) and Trade Compliance Regulations (i.e. ITAR or EAR) is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance and determines the most economical and efficient shipping method.
  • Determines the most appropriate shipping container and packs items to ensure safe delivery.
  • Receives, tracks, and distributes/stocks materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Obtains authorized signatures for accepted items.
  • Inspect shipments received for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies Program Manager and/or Purchasing Administrator.
  • Receives and unloads incoming shipments and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
  • Operates dolly, pallet jack, shrink-wrap machine, scissor lift and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment.
  • Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments and initiate proof of delivery documents.
  • Maintains department database, prepares routine reports, and files shipping/receiving records.
  • Will assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area; may lock warehouse and set alarms.
  • Assist the Facility Manager with facility maintenance on a day to day basis.
  • Assist electrician during shaker repair.
  • R.O. water monitoring, repair and installing new lines.
  • Pneumatics monitoring of house air compressor repair and install of new lines.
  • Monitoring cooling tower pressure differential gauges and cleaning of Thompson strainers.
  • PM intervals, changing out all water filters on shaker amplifiers.
  • PM intervals, changing out all filters on HVAC units for entire campus.
  • PM intervals, cleaning of condenser coils for entire campus.
  • Changing out batteries in paper towel dispensers, campus wide.
  • Distribution of paper and cafe goods, campus wide.
  • Overseeing ice melt inventory.
  • Assist Facility Manager / Electrician with large projects.
  • Current inspection intervals of pneumatic pressure vessels.
  • Follows established department policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, as well as safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Applies the principals of 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) in the performance of daily work responsibilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Abides by and ensures that all duties are performed in accordance with all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE), Trade Compliance, and Quality practices, policies, and regulations.
