This position performs the functions of shipping and receiving, material handling, inventory management and record-keeping for incoming and outgoing shipments of company products and vendor parts necessary to manufacturing of products; stores and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse, ensures accuracy and timeliness of all job functions; verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2-3 years related experience in shipping activities in a manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office
  • Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for 8–12 hours per shift on hard surfaces in a production environment.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for handling tools, assembling components, and operating machinery. Requires fine motor skills and grip strength.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 10–50 lbs. regularly; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
  • Reaching and Bending: Routine reaching above shoulders, bending, and twisting waist, and squatting as part of process and tasks.
  • Repetitive Motions: Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movements for tasks such as fastening, positioning, and installing.
  • Climbing: Occasional use of steps to access different height level areas.
  • PPE Expectations: Must wear required PPE (safety shoes, gloves, protective sleeves, eye and hearing protection) as per company safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Determines method of shipment and prepares bills, invoices and other shipping documents.
  • Receive material - check and signs delivery slips, and assists with unloading as necessary.
  • Inspect and verifies incoming goods against invoices or other documents, records shortages and rejects damaged goods.
  • Accept or returns material according to established company procedures. Prints and affixes proper labels.
  • Organize distribution and shipping of merchandise. Make necessary verifications against documents.
  • May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
  • Maintain internal record-keeping systems.
  • Contact transport companies and suppliers in order to expedite, trace or return material that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
  • Assembles containers and crates, packs goods to be shipped and prepares identifying information and shipping instructions.
  • Take inventory, maintain storage area, organize and place stock on shelves. Ensure area is secure at all times.
  • Keeping up date inventories and invoices in the system.
  • Assist Supervisor as needed.
  • Locate material according to layout.
  • Communicates pertinent information per shift.
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with invoices to verify accuracy.
  • Record discrepancies in order to make a failure warning if it is necessary.
  • Shipping schedules follow up/attainment Generates and provides proper paperwork for transportation.
