About The Position

Temp Connect Staffing is hiring a Shipping and Receiving Clerk / Forklift Operator for a metal fabrication manufacturer in Los Alamitos, CA. This is a temp-to-hire position paying $24.50/hr, Monday–Friday with approximately 8 hours of weekly overtime. In this role, you will use a sit-down forklift, hand truck, and pallet jack to unload incoming trucks, verify deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips, and package and crate finished metal products for outbound shipment. The schedule is consistent and the overtime is steady — typically built into the week. Pay: $24.50/hr Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7am–5pm; overtime as needed Location: Los Alamitos, CA Job Type: Temp-to-Hire Primary workplace language(s): English Work Environment: Manufacturing Plant / Factory Overtime: Weekly OT required (~8 hrs/wk)

Requirements

1+ year of experience in shipping and receiving.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
Steel-toed boots required (employee-provided).
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Must pass a background check.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (E-Verify).
Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Nice To Haves

Experience preparing Bills of Lading (BOLs), Certificates of Conformance (C of C), or commercial invoices.
Familiarity with crating, banding, or specialized packaging for large or heavy industrial parts.
Experience verifying deliveries against Purchase Orders (POs) and packing slips.
Background in metal fabrication, sheet metal, or a similar industrial manufacturing environment.
Experience operating pallet jacks and hand trucks in addition to sit-down forklifts.
Hands-on experience operating a sit-down forklift.

Responsibilities

Organize and stock incoming materials in designated locations, ensuring proper rotation and space efficiency on the dock.
Prepare shipping documents including Bills of Lading (BOLs), commercial invoices, and Certificates of Conformance (C of C).
Clean, package, and crate finished metal products using wooden crates, banding, and protective wrapping to protect large, heavy, or custom-shaped parts.
Load outgoing shipments onto transport vehicles and secure loads properly.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping and receiving dock and surrounding work area.
