About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Shipping and Receiving Associate. The hourly rate for this position is $20.50 per hour and it is eligible for a variable incentive program. The role involves using power equipment like forklifts to move, store, load/unload materials, parts, or products, and maintaining related documentation. It also includes verifying, identifying, and quantifying received items against purchase orders, inspecting for damages, and expediting materials to proper departments. The associate will pull and package materials for delivery, use a KanBan system, and act as a backup for other material handlers. The position requires maintaining a neat and orderly work area, safely delivering materials, notifying internal customers of receipts, receiving P.O.'s in the system, sorting return material, unloading trucks, pulling parts for Service Center packing, operating a stretchwrap machine, maintaining stock levels, coordinating material movement, working with planners and buyers, assisting with annual inventory, and processing internal Kanban cards. The role also encompasses significant health and safety responsibilities, including following procedures, reporting issues, participating in prevention activities, and maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of previous experience in a manufacturing, shipping & receiving, or related work environment.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts and other powered industrial trucks.
  • Ability to use computer systems for the input and tracking of materials.
  • Ability to ensure compliance where applicable with systems and /or programs such as, but not limited to ISO 9000-2000, ISO 14001, Underwriters Laboratory, NEMA, etc.
  • Ability to participate in and demonstrate understanding of other programs such as Eaton Business System (EBS), Eaton Safety Process (ESP), etc.
  • Ability to determine the quality of work reporting problems to area supervisor or Quality Control personnel.
  • Ability to maintain piece count and associated records where applicable.
  • Ability to read shop orders and drawings to determine assembly procedures such as component types and configuration, mounting locations and clearances required.
  • Ability to wear all safety equipment and observe all hygiene requirements as specified and directed.
  • Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Knowledge and adherence to established job specific and facility wide health and safety procedures and rules.
  • Ability to bring health and safety issues, unsafe acts and safety suggestions to management's attention or correct those they can.
  • Active participation in accident, injury and illness prevention activities.
  • Ability to develop job safety analysis and safe working procedures.
  • Ability to identify and correct hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Participation in accident, near-miss accident or potential hazard investigations.
  • Ability to keep other employees aware of health and safety practices and activities by actively observing fellow employee work practices and incorporating safety.
  • Ability to maintain 5S and housekeeping in work area.
  • Ability to maintain health and safety equipment in good working order.
  • Active participation in health and safety training and demonstration of competency based on training received.
  • Active participation in providing suggestions for the health and safety program improvement.
  • Knowledge and implementation of regulatory compliance requirements in their work area.

Responsibilities

  • Use forklift or power equipment to move and store a variety of materials, parts or products.
  • Load/unload materials from trucks, trailers, vehicles.
  • Transport items from incoming staging area or from finished goods staging area to storage area.
  • Store, stack, and arrange material and maintain related documentation.
  • Operate overhead crane or hoist in moving of material, only if crane certified.
  • Verify, identify and quantify items received against purchase order.
  • Visually inspect and count items / incoming parts, materials and supplies to detect shortages, damages in transit, broken packages and obvious defects.
  • Complete related documentation.
  • Move or expedite material to proper department.
  • Pull material and package for delivery to Service Centers.
  • Use KanBan system to order and replenish materials.
  • Act as backup to other material handlers as needed in different sections.
  • Visually inspect for damaged material.
  • Keep areas neat and orderly using 5S guidelines.
  • Safely and efficiently deliver materials as needed to storeroom locations, or POU locations.
  • Notify internal customers of receipts / product marked to their attention.
  • Maintain working relationship with internal customers.
  • Receive P.O’s in system.
  • Separate AML material from non-AML. (Kanban)
  • Sort and disperse return material.
  • Maintain all documentation accordingly.
  • Unload trucks and check freight bills accordingly.
  • Verify material against packing list.
  • Pull parts from Storeroom if needed in Service Center packing.
  • Ensure packaging is to standard to prevent loss or damage to product.
  • Perform duties of internal truck driver, making pick ups and deliveries in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with delivery / receipt of product to outside vendors and / or contractors.
  • Operate stretchwrap machine.
  • Maintain stock levels.
  • Coordinate movement of material.
  • Locate material when required by other material handlers, internal customers or Supervisors.
  • Work with planners and buyers to make them aware of problems.
  • Assist with annual inventory.
  • Process internal Kanban cards.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Kanban system.
