About The Position

The Shipper 2 position is responsible for all clerical functions related to the shipping department, including staffing and dock space management, reporting, and other shipping tasks. This role requires the ability to complete various shipping and outbound processes while maintaining individual productivity requirements. The Shipper 2 will also support the department at a specialist and training level as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• At least 2 years in a distribution/warehouse environment or equivalent work experience including operation of heavy equipment
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures
• Moderate to advanced computer skills
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to change and interruptions
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Must become certified through the Sally Beauty Lift Truck Training Program to operate a forklift safely

• Skilled in basic arithmetic
• Ability to read and interpret orders, product descriptions, and numbers in English

Responsibilities

• Operate hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area
• Direct others in preparing outgoing shipments
• Ensure all shipments are sent according to store specifications and on predetermined time schedules
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications
• Effectively communicate with internal and external contacts to resolve issues
• Perform shipping activities as needed, potentially as Shipping Clerk or Receiving Clerk
• Maintain a safe work environment and report potential job hazards to management
• Maintain productivity related to standards based on assigned tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested by management
