About the position

The Shipper/Receiver position involves managing the shipping and receiving processes within a warehouse environment. The role is focused on ensuring efficient handling of goods, maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards, and supporting inventory control. This is a temporary position with the potential for permanent employment, requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Quickly learn and assist in directing trucks into the loading bay.
• Prepare goods for shipping and coordinate receiving areas for efficient inbounding.
• Process, coordinate, and schedule shipping and receiving appointments for shipments.
• Check purchase and sales orders for special instructions and discrepancies.
• Examine pallets and verify contents for defects or damage.
• Weigh products as needed and verify weights or piece counts.
• Tag cartons and pallets with shipping or receiving labels and move products to designated areas.
• Complete necessary company paperwork, shipping and receiving logs, and BOLs.
• Assist with inventory control, including end-of-month or quarterly responsibilities.
• Maintain compliance with HACCP, OSHA, FDA, SSOP, and GMP requirements.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Basic math skills for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• License to operate a pallet jack and ability to obtain a forklift license.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP systems for shipping and receiving.
• Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to stand for multiple hours and walk up and down stairs throughout the day.

Nice-to-haves

• 1 year of forklift experience (Preferred)
• 1 year of shipping and receiving experience (Preferred)
• 1 year of basic computer skills (Preferred)
