Job Responsibilities: POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of a cross-functional team, performs all shipping/receiving, warehouse and material handling duties through BAAN radio frequency. Communicates warehouse requirements through written and verbal communications, work teams, and functional areas. Initiates and leads problem-solving groups using internal personal and decision-making skills. Ensures accuracy of shipments and receipts, maintains material movement systems, and completes proper paperwork and documentation. Ensures timely movement of raw material and finished goods. Maintains and improves inventory accuracy. Work will include loading and unloading tractor-trailers to meet customer requirements. Verifies completion of advanced shipping notice transmissions. Contact carriers and arranges for surface expedited shipments. Coordinates when shipments are staged. Meets regular and emergency truck driving response for manufacturing. KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBLITIES: All required within the scope of this job must be performed with a high degree of accuracy and concern for meeting our internal and external customer delivery requirements. Weekends, holidays, and long work hours are required. Tracks finished goods shortages. Communicates to manufacturing planners and customer service coordinators. Represents Magna Mirrors in a professional manner in communications with suppliers, customers, and Magna Mirrors associates. Loads and unloads materials, moves materials in and out of storage locations. Labels and marks pallets as required. Receives into manufacturing data collection system using radio frequency scanning device. Ships, receives, and transfers by using radio frequency equipment and current Information System. Assumes responsibility for customer shipments, paperwork, electronic communications, and other ongoing issues related to customer finished goods deliveries. Interfaces with internal and external contacts as needed in accordance with customer shipping requirements. Coordinates and completes emergency surface shipments in response to customer requests. Coordinates requests for re-inspection and/or return of finished goods. Responsible and accountable for maintaining a 95% or better inventory accuracy. Works with material planner in a proactive manner to avoid material shortages. Responsible and accountable for accurate counting of all material received. Performs receiving function against proper POs/contracts for closure. Maintains all files and documents necessary to support the shipping/receiving function. Verifies receipt log daily. Responsible for generating receivers to be matched with packing slips and distributed as necessary. Utilizes and supports KanBan Inventory Card Systems (Heijunka). Ensures that receiving practices are consistent with other areas of the company. Using the “Magna Mirrors Supplier Quality” handbook as a guide, documents and forwards any discrepancies of pack slip and carton labeling of supplied product to designated department. Operates all material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner and reports all malfunctions or damage to team leader. Responsible for ensuring first-in, first-out issuing of materials from storage. Maintains an optimum level of order and cleanliness in work areas. Implements, uses, and maintains work instructions pertaining to the warehouse material function. Receives and issues customer returnable containers for area manufacturing facility. Employee may be required to perform other miscellaneous duties at the request of the team leader. At Level II the employee may be required to rotate to a different shift to meet customer demand. Ensures proper receiving and handling of hazardous materials and wastes including paints and paint solvents.

Requirements

  • Four or more years’ experience with demonstrated competency and accuracy in material handling, shipping, receiving, lift-truck, or truck driving activities.
  • Knowledge of order-pulling, storing, loading, unloading, and staging.
  • Must be able to obtain a lift truck license.
  • Knowledge of Magna Mirrors’ current Information Systems and bar code scanning system Radio Frequency (RF).
  • Able to demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in following work processes and completing work tasks.
  • Strong workflow organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to meet team building requirements.
  • General math ability to include primary addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and decimals.
  • Legible penmanship and ability to maintain neat, accurate records.
  • Able to do necessary lifting and moving of heavy cartons (70 to 100 lbs.).
  • Able to work flexible hours as required by customer delivery schedules.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • A proven record of dependability is required.
  • Must be able to effectively manage emergency customer requests.
  • Proven work record establishing ability and competence in planning and following work schedules and prescribed procedures.
  • BAAN ERP system, and Magna Mirrors Production System.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for successful performance of job duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and support customer delivery functions and Lotus Notes and customer software systems.
  • Demonstrated skills to manage, prioritize, and deal with many issues at one time.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize all job-related equipment including, but not limited to, label printers, PC’s, forklifts, and forklift support equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and support customer delivery functions and Lotus Notes and customer software systems.
  • Understanding of QS-9000 work instructions.
  • Ability to lead, instruct, and develop less experienced logistic tea
