About The Position

Lancaster Metal Manufacturing is a sheet metal shop and subsidiary of U.S. Boiler Company. Our metal is used to create residential and commercial heating products that have been designed, engineered, and manufactured domestically. Headquartered in Lancaster, PA, our facilities employ nearly 300 people from our community. Every product that leaves our factory has been designed, engineered, and produced for exclusive use in North America. U.S. Boiler Company is a subsidiary of Burnham Holdings, Inc. We are seeking a Shipper & Receiver to join our team! This position will under limited supervision, following shipping/receiving orders and/or verbal instructions, loads and unloads trucks with forklift or truck handle as required. Packages and labels small items for UPS or Postal Service and stores products for shipping. This is a full-time, union-hourly position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are Sunday, 10 PM – 6 AM; Monday-Thursday, 9:30 PM – 6 AM.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and reach up to 7 feet

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hand, power, and measuring tools a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Take prepared order from shipping office and labels, marks or packages shipments and assembles in area for loading.
  • Follows shipping orders supplied and/or verbal instructions to insure proper shipment and utilization of trailer space.
  • Operates all material moving equipment (includes but not limited to forklift, stand up lift, hand truck, Company truck).
  • Stores incoming and outgoing material in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Delivers incoming material to proper areas.
  • Checks incoming material as to condition and quantity and advises foreman of any discrepancies. Writes up all receiving tallies on all incoming items as required.
  • Assists in packaging and crating of products as required.
  • Insures chocking, blocking and dock locking of trailers, prior to loading and unloading.
  • Check daily, brakes and all necessary fluids to ensure forklift is operating in a safe manner.
  • Fill forklift fuel tanks.
  • Work station must be kept clean and organized.
  • Required to fill out work orders, job cards, data sheets, reports correctly.
  • Do required Quality checks.
  • Refers unusual problems to Supervisor.
  • Performs other work as directed commensurate with this or lesser rated labor grades.
