About The Position

This position supports the Manufacturing process by receiving, identifying, recording, and reporting incoming materials, and by preparing, identifying, recording, and loading outgoing products. The role involves operating various equipment, organizing materials, maintaining inventory records, evaluating materials for quality and hazards, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a Windows based software program is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Fork lift certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work in a safe manner consistent with all company policies and procedures.
  • Operates fork lift and hand cart equipment to unload materials from trucks and transfers to warehouse, transfers finished goods from assembly areas to warehouse, prepares materials for safe shipment (i.e. banding, stretch wrapping, boxing) and loads materials onto trucks.
  • Organizes materials in a safe, orderly and efficient manner in all areas of the plant and outside dock areas consistent with established Lean Manufacturing processes and verifies stacking of pallets for proper loading to prevent damage during transit
  • Identifies materials with proper documentation, records inventory transactions in ERP system including receipts, transfers, and adjustments using bar coding equipment and/or manual entries.
  • Maintains pallet dock and pallet trailer by monitoring inventory levels, sorting used pallets and ordering pallets as required.
  • Evaluates materials for required documentation, defects, and potential environmental hazards. Notifies appropriate personnel of non-conformances.
  • Participates in and promotes cross training, task teams and training activities and in the development, implementation and maintenance of Lean Manufacturing processes (i.e. 5S, kaizen, kanban, value stream mapping).
  • Operates baler equipment and maintains baler room area, scrap and recycle trailers.
  • Participates in cycle counting and physical inventory.
  • Uses the following inspection and test gear: weigh scale, rule, caliper, dine test.
