About The Position

The Shipper/Receiver position is responsible for performing general shipping duties required for shipping all types of gas cylinders and related products. This includes removing material from stock for shipment, preparing material for shipment in accordance with established procedures, and performing leak checks on gas mixtures and pure gases prior to shipment. The role also involves accurately completing required documentation and loading cylinders properly following all pertinent DOT, IMDG, and IATA requirements. As a receiver, the individual will unload trucks of cylinders, drums, and other inbound freight, accurately record or scan all cylinders and tag numbers, and document any damages or issues on the receiving report. Maintaining a clean receiving cylinder storage yard is also a key responsibility. The position may require overtime as needed and performing other tasks assigned by the plant manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic exercises.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside and climb ladders.
  • Must be able to use hand tools and move cylinders.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • All training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general shipping duties for gas cylinders and related products.
  • Removes material from stock for shipment.
  • Prepares material for shipment by stenciling, labeling, and tagging cylinders.
  • Conducts leak checks on gas mixtures and pure gases prior to shipment.
  • Attaches dust plugs, wires down hand wheels, and shrink wraps valves and cylinders.
  • Completes required documentation, labels, tags, markings, and placards for shipments.
  • Loads cylinders following DOT, IMDG, and IATA requirements.
  • Unloads trucks of cylinders, drums, and other inbound freight.
  • Records or scans all cylinders and tag numbers onto the receiving report.
  • Documents damages, missing cylinder caps, and out of test cylinders.
  • Maintains a clean receiving cylinder storage yard.
  • Works overtime as needed and performs other tasks assigned by the plant manager.
