About The Position

As the Shipbuilding Specialist (Acquisition Management), you will be on a dynamic team at our client's site in Washington, D.C. where you will contribute across each facet of a major shipbuilding program and analyze and evaluate acquisition planning details and provide recommendations to the Acquisition Principal Assistant Program Managers (PAPM). Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors. Serco is seeking an energetic self-starter who wants to be part of the US Navy's acquisition and construction of its newest combatant ship as part of the Frigate program. Our team supports the Navy, our customer, in the design, construction, and test of the U.S. Navy's Guided Missile Fast Frigate warship.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Active or Current Secret Clearance
  • An Active or Current Secret Clearance preferred
  • US Citizenship
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • An Associate's Degree and 2 years of additional experience or a High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7 years of similar/relevant experience (Shipbuilding Acquisition support experience highly preferred)
  • Experience preparing and briefing senior leadership
  • Experience with surface combatant ships
  • Familiarity with DoD 5000 processes
  • Knowledge of DoD and DoN acquisition policy and execution.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop evaluation methodology, collects and analyzes the data to determine the extent to which goals, objectives and needs are being met.
  • Provide detail oriented management of records, business research analysis, and valuation strategies.
  • Prepare and implement directives to ensure effective acquisition support.
  • Develop, initiate, integrate and manage acquisition actions associated with Acquisition Life Cycle and milestone management for FFG.
  • Develop and updates Acquisition Strategy and other required DOD 5000 series documentation.
  • Work with other PAPMs and across support team to maintain records of all acquisition required documentation and oversee timely updates to support acquisition timeline.
  • Prepare and provide formal briefings to the staff and project sponsors. Leads acquisition discussions at project review sessions.
  • Conduct risk assessments to the program. Identify and execute mitigation plans to reduce risks to the program.
  • Research on new technologies and processes provide advice and recommendations to PAPM on meeting challenges of new shipbuilding program.
  • Develop documentation, reports, and project plans and prepares and may present briefings and staff seminars.
