About The Position

Make meaningful contributions that fuel critical outcomes for some of the most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects. Applies appropriate welding processes to join surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. Must be able to complete a three-position weld test (V, H, OH) SMAW CS plate test. Must be able to complete structural workmanship test. Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates. Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced welders. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Participates in special projects as required. Must be able to obtain all necessary badges (DBIDS and shipyard). Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 75 lbs.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related welding experience.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a DBIDS Badge for access to Naval Bases, Naval Facilities, and private shipyards (BAE, NASSCO, etc.).
