About The Position

CACI is seeking an experienced design and engineering manager to provide high-level technical expertise and management guidance across various programs. In this role, you will utilize your technical and management knowledge and experience to offer recommendations and advice to design/technical managers, naval architects, marine engineers, structural engineers, and designers. Your work will support ships for the US Navy, Military Sealift Command (MSC), and the US Coast Guard (USCG). The work will be primarily remote but may require periodic and short-term physical presence.

Requirements

  • US Citizen with a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Master’s degrees or multiple degrees in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college.
  • Minimum of 25 years of experience with Navy Ship Design, Construction, and Operational Programs with a technical focus.
  • Performed design management on a US Navy shipbuilding program.
  • Deep skills in one or more of the following areas: Structures, Hydrostatics, Hydrodynamics, Main Propulsion, Electrical Power Generation and Distribution, Ship Mission Systems, Ship Survivability, Combat System Integration, Aviation System Integration, Ship Auxiliary Support Systems, or Ship Test and Evaluation.
  • Experience leading multi-domain technical teams specifying ships or ship systems (sized of at least 40+ members).
  • Skilled at coalescing, presenting, and explaining complex technical issues to decision-makers focused on business, cost, and schedule goals.
  • Capable of using Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Project, and 3D Product Model Viewers.
  • Expertise with U.S. Navy, USCG, and/or U.S. commercial ship design standards.
  • Subject Matter Experience with U.S. Navy Design and Acquisition.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various design management and technical disciplines to support CACI’s Washington, DC office and client site offices.
  • Work closely with key customers including MSC, NSWC, NAVSEA, and the USCG.
  • Participate in stand up and continued performance of design and other technical projects providing management and technical guidance and support.
  • Lead surge projects, reviews and meetings.
  • Assess total ship system impacts and identify risks to key performance parameters and mission requirements.
  • Interface with the Program Manager (PM) and the shipyard through Integrated Product Teams and during Design/Construction reviews.
  • Provide programs and design/technical teams insights on technical performance, cost and schedule impacts.
  • Address risk and safety issues that emerge during the ship design, construction and delivery process
  • Review and advise on the technical content of engineering change proposals.
  • Lead New Business in all aspects of CACI and Government Interface for Cross Platform Engineering, Program Management, and Ship Life-cycle Stand-up.
