About The Position

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in Customer Service and Import Documentation in the Maritime industry required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Moderate to advanced typing skills and 10-key by touch (40-45 wpm)
  • Advanced communication skills in English in order to communicate with customers.
  • Ability to follow procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and fellow employees.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures.
  • Possess organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
  • The employee is required to sit for long periods of time and move to and from other locations, within the office and terminal.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays, on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all documentation is submitted timely, as required.
  • Check documents, make necessary corrections, and distribute them to corresponding customers to meet their respective deadlines.
  • Collects Bills of Ladings for all assigned customers; check the information on all documentation for accuracy and disseminates for processing.
  • Inform all customers of cargo arrivals/departures, via email/fax with an arrival/departure notice and a copy of the bill of lading.
  • Securing confirmation and file in the master file.
  • Secure original bills of lading properly endorsed, and delivery orders.
  • Check that cargo is properly released.
  • Coordinate and enter all data into the Stevedore Terminal Management System (STMS).
  • Heavy phone communications answering any questions and informing customers of situations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
