About The Position

This position is responsible for providing on-site leadership, oversight, and direction for TCC System Operators responsible for operations activities required to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Entergy Transmission and Distribution (T&D) systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education & Experience Required: 2-year Technical Degree or equivalent work experience. 6 years of operations related experience (or 4 years of operations related experience with an engineering degree).
  • Solid technical understanding of T&D electrical system operations and specific knowledge of: power-flow analysis techniques; Entergy’s Switching, Tagging & Clearance procedure; applicable NERC standards; and MISO Business Practices that support the reliable operation of the BES.
  • Demonstrated ability to make data driven decisions.
  • Able to build, motivate and inspire diverse teams.
  • Proven track record as an Individual Contributor of leading cross-functional teams, managing conflict, providing clear direction/role clarity and mentoring employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams to effectively diagnose problems and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Works a rotating 12-hour shift schedule providing leadership, oversight, and direction to the System Operators and Support personnel to ensure the Entergy transmission system is operated in accordance with applicable industry requirements and company guidelines
  • Liaises with other operational leaders in power delivery, power generation, nuclear, and SPO to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the T&D systems.
  • Ensures that System Operators adhere to applicable procedures and processes to maintain compliance with the real-time operations aspects of the MISO RTO as well as the real-time operations aspects of the NERC Reliability Standards.
  • Provides direct oversight and approval authority over planned transmission equipment outages ensuring Bulk Electric System (BES) reliability is maintained.
  • Provides subject matter expert (SME) guidance to switching operators for planned transmission equipment outages ensuring they are switched and tagged in accordance with Entergy’s Switching, Tagging and Clearance procedure providing safe operations and work zones for field workers.
  • Requests special studies by the Real-Time Analysis operator or appropriate support group on an ad hoc basis focused on maintaining system reliability, development of operating guides, and implementation of local area mitigation plans.
  • Provides guidance and support to the System Operators monitoring transmission lines and substation equipment for thermal overloads, voltage support, and equipment alarms.
  • Provides oversight and support for the restoration of service following interruptions to the transmission system.
  • Ensures load relief procedures are implemented when necessary to protect BES reliability and regulates transmission voltages within acceptable operating limits.
  • Ensures Operational Leadership team is informed of changes to the RES that may impact reliability.
  • Interfaces with MISO RTO personnel to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the BES.
  • Interfaces with Power Delivery field personnel, Industrial & Wholesale Accounts, and OpCo Customer Service groups.
