About The Position

Lead the team that knows how to listen, respond, and act when it matters most. This is not a traditional counseling role. We’re looking for strong communicators and team leaders who can think clearly under pressure, make sound decisions, and support a team doing meaningful, real-time work. At Mental Health America of Greenville County, we answer the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, providing immediate support to people in emotional distress. As a Shift Supervisor, you’ll guide the people behind those conversations. You are: · The person people turn to when a situation gets complex · The one who can cut through noise and make decisions quickly · A coach who gives clear, direct, and constructive feedback · A steady, non-judgmental presence for both staff and callers You do not need to be a therapist. You do need to be an excellent communicator. Every conversation matters. And behind every conversation is a team that needs strong leadership, clear direction, and support. That’s where you come in.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in human services, communication-heavy roles, or leadership roles
  • 3+ years of supervisory, training, or team leadership experience
  • Clear, direct, and effective under pressure
  • Strong typing and computer skills (you’ll be multitasking systems)
  • Able to assess situations quickly
  • Makes thoughtful decisions with all data available
  • Brings experience completing performance reviews and coaching staff
  • Open to continuous feedback and able to give it constructively
  • Values mental health and emotional well-being
  • Approaches people with empathy and without judgment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in call center, crisis response, behavioral health, or similar environments preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support staff during calls, chats, and texts
  • Provide real-time guidance in high-risk or complex situations
  • Spend ~25% of time directly handling crisis communication (to include working the crisis line)
  • Conduct performance reviews, quality assessments, and documentation reviews
  • Give ongoing, honest feedback to help staff grow
  • Monitor service levels and make quick, informed decisions
  • Collaborate with EMS, law enforcement, and crisis teams when needed
  • Model a non-judgmental, calm, and focused approach in all interactions
