About The Position

Supervise all functional areas of production, train staff on proper packaging to assure meeting the production schedule requirements. Makes recommendations for improvement, performs performance reviews, and recommends hires.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent, some college a plus
  • Two (2+) plus years’ experience managing people, additional experience a plus
  • General computer knowledge of MS Office systems required
  • Knowledge of packaging equipment a plus
  • Sitting at workstation approximately 20 percent of work time and standing and walking approximately 80 percent of work time is required
  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice is required based on business need

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, review, promote, discipline, and terminate employees in the production group.
  • Provide personnel with necessary paperwork affecting an employee’s status.
  • Utilize available personnel to meet the needs of the production schedule.
  • Follow production schedule priorities, revisions, and changes.
  • Comply with and enforce company rules of conduct and safety.
  • Communicate with other supervisor’s and departments.
  • Maintain weekly time reports.
  • Prepare daily attendance reports and timecards for computer entry.
  • Report and investigate all accidents, injuries, and/or near misses promptly.
  • Advise and assist employees as needed.
  • Ensure packers, operators, and/or contractors have the proper equipment to do their job as easily and efficiently as possible.
  • Must be on the production floor for a minimum of 6 hours per shift.
  • Must review packaging labor daily and make changes to ensure that we are using the lowest amount of labor necessary.
  • Be responsible for the safe evacuation of shift in an emergency.
  • Schedule labor daily.
  • Oversee proper use of the WMS system used by the utilities and to understand the process.
  • Order corrugated materials for all shifts as needed.
  • Arrive 30 to 60 minutes prior to shift start for handoff meetings.
  • Ensure that the correct packaging is being used as per the production schedule.
  • Responsible for food safety and GMP’s.
  • Additional duties as needed.
