About The Position

The Third Street Women’s Residence provides transitional shelter and supportive services to 79 homeless women with mental illness concerns who are in need of permanent housing. They are referred to the facility from assessment centers and/or by the New York City Department of Homeless Services. The staff provides an array of social and housing placement services, working with the residents to enhance and develop life management skills, as well as to manage their mental health conditions. When needed, residents are referred to community-based organizations. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Shift Supervisor is a crucial member of the Women's Residence's leadership team and is responsible for managing the program operations to ensure safety and compliance for all team members and clients. You will ensure that clients receives the highest possible standard of health & safety and ensure that services meet regulatory and agency standards. The Operations Team Leader will task manage the operations team that are scheduled to work during these shifts, encouraging a supportive environment and assisting in managing intake, and emergency/high emotion situations as needed.

Requirements

  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Security License
  • Fire Safety & Alarm System F-80 License
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience working in a direct service capacity
  • Professional experience working with people experiencing homelessness and/or mental illness concerns highly preferred
  • Proven ability to critical think, problem solve, troubleshoot, and manage crisis situations
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Strong management, interpersonal, writing, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some holidays, evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for programmatic safety and crisis management
  • Task manage a team of resident assistants, office staff, contracted security, and evening team.
  • Screen and interview clients; complete application for intake services.
  • Conduct client assessments and prepare reports concerning change in conditions
  • Assist with maintaining and creating schedules for operations staff, manage call outs and coverage as needed
  • Respond to all after hour and weekend emergencies; document thoroughly and submit required incident reports internally and externally to funders
  • Oversee safety within the facility; conduct fire drills as scheduled
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship among the program units by communicating information, responding to request, building rapport and participating in team problem-solving methods
  • Participate in inter-disciplinary team meetings to discuss client cases
  • Maintain client data and census logs and ensure records are up-to-date
  • Provide facility walk through such as make rounds in the facility to be in compliance with the Fire Coordinator and Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) standards
  • Maintain daily sign-in food log of resident meals
  • Prepare and maintain accurate expenditure records
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
