The Shift Supervisor is responsible for safety, quality, and operations for shift. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of related professional and progressive Manufacturing experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to properly communicate expectations, provide direction and give feedback.
  • Must be multi-faceted, have multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize workload based on immediate needs.
  • Strong upper management/peer/direct reports interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of plastics extrusion processes and converting equipment.
  • Project management skills and basic financial budgeting knowledge.
  • Understanding of and ability to use PC hardware and basic software packages including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledgeable about BRC requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS degree in Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Prior team management experience combined with a proven track record of developing, coaching and mentoring a diverse staff.
  • SAP and/or Oracle experience.

Responsibilities

  • ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY AND HYGIENE:• Ensure the safety of employees and the security of the plant by maintaining a safe work environment in partnership with the plant EHS Manager.• Maintain employee’s accountability for following safety & quality requirements and administer coaching and corrective action as needed.• Participate as an active member of the Emergency Response Team.• Complete initial accident investigation and follow up investigation with the EHS Manager.• Perform as a crisis manager (bad weather, accidents/incidents, emergency response, employee conflict, and violence in the workplace).• Initiate action for immediate corrections of safety hazards on the shift.• Coordinate safety training (hearing, lift truck license, etc.).• Coordinate with the EHS team regarding work hardening activities for employees on restriction or with injuries.• Understand environmental policy (HazCom), recognize non-compliance issues and know how to initiate corrective measures to resolve any environmental issues.
  • QUALITY:• Participate in initial quality investigations to determine if root cause of the problem was process related or operator related.• Ensure that all housekeeping standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and BRC standards are met.• Maintain employee’s accountability for quality issues within their control, and administer corrective actions as needed.• Coordinate quality training as needed.• Assist with sanitation and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) inspections.
  • TEAM COMMUNICATON:• Coordinate the development of Team Leaders and backups. Develop and mentor team members to ensure succession planning is in place.• Coach Team Leaders to administer certification training.• Ensure employees are in compliance with team guidelines and Presto’s policies.• Coordinate orientation of new employees.• Schedule and monitor new employee training process to ensure it is staying on track.• Verify all training packet items have been completed and submit appropriate forms.• Encourage a team environment that allows participation in the decision making process.• Conduct real time feedback and provide follow up on team member issues as needed.• Facilitate shift huddle meetings.
  • PRODUCTIVITY:• Prepare and conduct Daily Management meetings.• Coordinate with Production Managers to fill vacant positions.• Review absenteeism records for all production employees and administer corrective action as needed.• Actively monitor machines speeds, breakdowns and scrap to ensure the help chain is being used as needed.• Understand plant budgets and how the Shift Leader has impact on achieving budget expectations.• Evaluate production rates, OEE and variances.• Understand production-scheduling systems and know when to adjust schedules to meet customer requirements.• Manage daily staffing requirements.• Process production employees’ timekeeping in UKG.
