The shift supervisor is responsible tasks and services to support the plant’s overall business plans and objectives as directed. performance of the Horsham plant. What you’ll be doing: Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment. Supports and follows the SQF (Safe Quality Food) guidelines of the food safety system. Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, participating in monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents, as required. Follows company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), practices and Sonoco’s Global Code of Conduct. Supervises and coordinates the employees and activities of the department/production function to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping standards are met or exceeded. Facilitates the on-the-job training and development of subordinates’ skills to ensure a high level of production and morale. Facilitates communications and dissemination of information between crew operations. Maintains production spoilage and downtime records. Leads problem solving sessions to solve production, quality and safety issues. Responsible for monitoring machine parts and supplies. Evaluates products to ensure compliance with the established quality standards Schedules shift employees and reviews production schedules to ensure optimization. Furnishes work orders and schedules for maintenance corrective action. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, and plant location. Understands and responds effectively to Emergency Coordinator (EC) directions during emergencies by being familiar with emergency procedures, equipment, and systems, as necessary. Implements contingency plan to the level required by the position. Understands, completes, and maintains environmental documentation for which the individual is trained, or as directed. Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes. Other duties as assigned. The position is located in our Horsham, Pennsylvania plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical/manufacturing/industrial engineering or work-related experience
  • 3-5 years of job related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Broad experience typically acquired working in manufacturing plants.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to operate and functionally use the computer.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted supervisory practices and procedures.
  • Ability to operate and functionally use the computer
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data to make recommendations.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate, and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively lead and train other employees
  • Ability to wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts.
  • Ability to work in various conditions: hot and cold environments.

  • Experience with LEAN practices (5s, Kaizen, Standard Work, etc.)
