Responsibilities also include processing customer transactions, participating in suggestive selling, monitoring cash control procedures, and maintaining a clean store environment. The role involves stocking shelves, following food preparation guidelines, and adhering to safety procedures including fuel dispensing.
Responsibilities
- Help customers and resolve complaints in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide fast service and multi-task effectively.
- Motivate, train, and direct staff within the store.
- Assign and inspect elements on the shift duty list.
- Communicate responsively with store management and associates.
- Implement and follow policies and safety rules and regulations.
- Perform daily bookkeeping and bank deposits.
- Process customer transactions efficiently.
- Participate in suggestive selling to customers.
- Monitor cash control procedures and cash drops; safeguard cash and complete shift reports.
- Clean store interior and exterior, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing restrooms.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays both inside and outside.
- Follow food preparation guidelines and operate food equipment while adhering to sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain safety procedures including fuel dispensing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a retail environment required, preferably in a lead position.
- Great customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication skills with customers, employees, vendors, and management.
- Ability to read, write, hear, clearly speak, and understand the English language.
- Basic math skills for making correct change and completing shift reports accurately.
- Ability to process all types of point of sale transactions efficiently with minimal error.
- Experience in daily bookkeeping procedures and troubleshooting errors.
- Ability to carry, push/pull, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds alone.
- Ability to perform tasks such as carrying out trash containers and using a step ladder occasionally.
- Prolonged walking or standing for up to 8-10 continuous hours on concrete or tile surfaces.
- Ability to maintain the interior/exterior lots and equipment, including shoveling snow.
- Ability to work alone and/or with others, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to enter and work in freezers and coolers at temperatures of 10 degrees for up to 30 minutes.
- Tolerance for exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with documentation of auto insurance.
