About the position

The Shift Supervisor functions as a supervisor of Security Officers, Lead Officers, and other company personnel assigned to one or more posts at client site(s). This role acts to ensure that all post orders are followed, that established rounds are completed, and that required reports are filed. The Shift Supervisor notifies proper authorities and clients in emergency situations. The position involves coaching and disciplining personnel as appropriate, seeking advice from company management or designated representatives, and meeting personally with employees to document coaching and disciplinary actions. Additionally, the Shift Supervisor trains Security Officers and other company personnel, reviews post orders and other details of assignments with subordinates, and assists in the submission of payroll and personnel information to the company as designated. The role also includes ensuring adequate coverage of all posts and positions, preparing, filing, and submitting various reports as required, and inspecting posts as scheduled. The Shift Supervisor meets with client representatives to provide assurance that all security requirements are being met and to provide quality customer service. The position may also involve carrying out supervisory duties such as interviewing, orienting, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, coaching and appraising performance, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with post orders and completion of established rounds.
  • Notify authorities and clients in emergency situations.
  • Coach and discipline personnel as appropriate.
  • Train Security Officers and review post orders with subordinates.
  • Assist in payroll and personnel information submission.
  • Ensure adequate coverage of all posts and positions.
  • Prepare and submit various reports as required.
  • Inspect posts and meet with subordinates to outline tasks.
  • Meet with client representatives to ensure security requirements are met.
  • Carry out supervisory duties including interviewing and training employees.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in retail preferred.
  • Knowledge of security operations, supervisory practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure in stressful situations.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in security operations with an emphasis on patrol and inspection.
  • Knowledge of a variety of security and safety devices and controls.
