About The Position

The Shift Mechanic performs master-level installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, water treatment, humidification, mechanical utility, and domestic hot water systems. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–2 years of experience in utility systems, mechanical systems, or HVAC installation and maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply basic math skills.
  • Ability to work well under time constraints.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to apply common-sense problem solving in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a friendly, efficient, and professional Spirit of Service attitude toward customers, clients, and coworkers.
  • Performs installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, water treatment, humidification, steam, and domestic hot water systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic components.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on mechanical utility systems such as fans, pumps, compressors, valves, steam traps, strainers, and related equipment.
  • Uses computerized Emergency Management and Building Automation Systems to monitor and maintain system performance.
  • Conducts routine inspections and preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
  • Inspects, repairs, and replaces system components including valves, gauges, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, coils, heat exchangers, belts, filters, bearings, and piping.
  • Performs plumbing and pipe fitting as needed to maintain utility systems.
  • Repairs mechanical infrastructure and assemblies, including fabrication, brazing, oxy-acetylene welding, arc welding, and sheet metal work.
  • Reads and interprets mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Assists with training and orientation of lower-level employees as assigned.
  • Estimates time, labor, and material costs for projects.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to the needs of patients and residents based on age and care requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with Aramark standards, client contracts, and Business Conduct Policy.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and accrediting agency standards.
  • Adheres to all safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
