About The Position

Electra is seeking a skilled Shift Manager to oversee equipment operations and frontline personnel at our new clean iron demonstration plant. This role will play a key part in supporting the commissioning and operation of our first‑of‑its‑kind facility. The Shift Manager is responsible for directing daily operational activities in accordance with established company policies and management guidance. This includes supervising an operations team, ensuring adherence to EHS standards, maintaining product quality, and supporting efficient 24/7 plant operations. The role also monitors and manages costs within the department and identifies opportunities to improve processes within defined operational guidelines. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on industrial or manufacturing experience, strong problem‑solving skills, and a proven ability to lead teams effectively in a production environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in plant operations, manufacturing, or industrial production environments
  • 1+ years in a supervisory or lead role with direct reports managing performance
  • Solid understanding of process safety principles, basic equipment maintenance practices, and standard quality control procedures, with the ability to apply established policies during shift operations
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop individuals and teams, using performance management tools and clear expectations to drive consistent results
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interpret information, explain requirements, and support cooperation across shift teams and functional partners
  • Effective problem‑solving skills, including the ability to identify routine issues, apply known solutions, and escalate when needed to maintain schedule and performance targets
  • Ability to operate confidently in a fast‑paced, dynamic, and evolving environment typical of a startup, while maintaining adherence to established processes
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies, with the ability to apply basic tools to support operational efficiency within defined guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily operational activities according to established processes and procedures, ensuring the shift meets production targets aligned to the weekly and monthly operating plan
  • Champion safety and quality on the assigned shift, leading by example and reinforcing a zero‑injury, high‑quality culture
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of operators, technicians, and contractors to support reliable 24/7 operations and meet shift performance goals
  • Train personnel on operational procedures to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime
  • Monitor equipment performance and work with maintenance personnel to improve reliability and plant uptime
  • Champion and support continuous improvement and safety leadership programs and processes
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits with the ability to delegate and execute corrective actions as needed
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Track and report on key operational metrics (KPIs), including safety, quality, productivity, and downtime
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve process issues
  • Train and ensure uniform performance for standard operating procedures (SOPs) as well as audit operations for compliance
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
