About The Position

The Shift Manager in the Cannery area is a people-focused operations leader responsible for efficiently improving and delivering human safety, operational targets, quality, and conversion costs. They actively engage and develop their team of shift-based associates to drive performance and foster growth.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 3+ years of direct people leadership experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with executing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP concepts and plant sanitation procedures
  • Ability to develop and deploy training strategies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.), internet browsers, and email
  • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
  • Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
  • Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.

Responsibilities

  • Lead team of 23 associates to efficiently convert materials into quality products ensuring safety, security, sanitation, and adherence to design specifications and budgets.
  • Recommend and implement CI improvements in methods, equipment, systems, safety, product quality and the organization.
  • Guide teams through Autonomous Maintenance (AM)
  • People management including hiring, coaching, training and evaluating associate performance and create development plans aligned with career goals.
  • Assist Production Leads in coordinating materials, staffing, and resources for efficient line operations and changeovers.
  • Handle additional ad hoc tasks as needed.
