We are looking for an experienced Shift Manager - Pulp & Utilities to join our team!

  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work
  • Monitor crew safety performance and communicate safety issues/concerns to area leadership
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and report unresolved housekeeping issues to appropriate area leadership
  • Ensure the pulp and utilities areas are operating in accordance to established KPI's
  • Communicate pulp and energy related issues to paper production
  • Remove barriers and drive performance during off hours
  • Coordinate unscheduled L&D events and off hour maintenance prioritization
  • Monitor and maintain optimal efficiency of equipment
  • Monitor daily production pulp production and energy statistics
  • Ensure shift production issues are elevated to area leadership in a timely manner
  • Monitor adherence to mode of key raw materials (OBA, Plastic Pigment, Ti02, Starch, etc.)
  • Monitor fiber inventories and optimize accordingly
  • Educate, direct and mentor hourly operators
  • Support area leadership and Personnel Development group
  • Monitor maintenance work in production areas on shift
  • Monitor crew performance
  • Provide feedback to superintendents for annual reviews
  • Optimize workload using employee flexibility
  • Ensure operator rounds are complete
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Pulp & Paper Science or 10+ years of paper machine operation experience
  • Supervisory experience with 2-5 years paper machine operations expertise
