About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for Shift Manager Maintenance at our Middletown operation. The Shift Manager Maintenance is responsible for supervising and providing work direction to hourly union employees. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with complex operations. We have multiple openings in the plant. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 2-5 years supervising maintenance employees in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Analytic skills with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Work in a 24/7 environment that includes working rotating shifts.
  • Responsibilities and the nature of the work can change based on the conditions of the operations which may include adjustments in work schedule, based on the severity of issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in union environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in maintenance and mobile equipment repair.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct hourly employees.
  • Assign manpower and equipment as necessary to repair and upgrade mill equipment.
  • Direct both planned preventative maintenance activities and work through equipment breakdown scenarios.
  • Implement the safety program’s goals to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Identify problem(s), gather the appropriate information, and analyze in an effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
