  • The Shift Leader is responsible for overall operation of the dormitory including the health & safety of staff and residents.
  • They will supervise and support staff in accordance with shelter policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary contact for staff regarding shift scheduling related concerns.
  • Responsible for shift schedule to include: staff time off, staff unexpected absences, lateness, and coordination of alternate staff to ensure shift coverage.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, absences, and tardiness.
  • Resolve conflicts in a manner consistent with program guidelines.
  • Respond to client and shelter emergencies and notify proper emergency authorities in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update Nightly Shelter Log.
  • Communicates with other shift supervisor and Program Manager.
  • Act as professional role model for staff and participants.
  • Maintain guidelines established by the funding sources and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D. with three (3) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience working with a specific population preferred.
  • N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry clearance.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Experience working with a specific population preferred.
