This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As the shift leader of a hardworking and accomplished team of precision cleaning technicians, you will set technical directions, build team members to support current and future program needs, be responsible for employee life cycle including hiring, performance management, training and providing tools for career development. You will help to improve technical processes, best practices, and tool development around focused areas of chemical corrosion processing, equipment operation, and hardware development cycles. Requirements

  • 3+ years of management experience
  • 5+ years' experience in precision cleaning/field operations
  • Root cause and corrective action analysis experience
  • Understand the department KPI's metrics to improve performance
  • Strong communication skills with a heavy customer focus
  • Must have a continuous improvement mindset
  • Clear understanding of production versus development environments
  • Familiarity with precision cleaning processes such as gross cleaning, precision cleaning, NVR and field cleaning operations
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
  • Climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas
  • Work at heights on work stands and in lifts.
  • Perform repetitive work
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Must be able to set a high hiring bar while evaluating and hiring top talent
  • Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with gross cleaning, precision cleaning, confined space, equipment maintenance, hydro testing, field cleaning procedures
  • Knowledge of hazardous material handling and EHS regulations
  • Overhead crane operation and rigging for large aerospace components
  • Tooling and fixture design
  • 5S, Lean Manufacturing or Kaizen experience
  • Knowledge of installation and assembly tolerances
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware

Responsibilities

  • Shift leader for precision cleaning technician personnel in day-to-day operations
  • Conduct performance reviews
  • Responsible for establishing workstation assignments, employee training, overtime assignments and back-up for absent employees
  • Maintain and communicate precision cleaning facility schedule status to ensure meeting customer expectations
  • Provide first level escalation support to employees regarding HR issues (employee relations, worker's compensation, disciplinary actions, timecards, PTO requests)
  • Identifying Continuous Improvement opportunities and implementing change to improve process, reduce cycle and setup times
  • Maintain all precision cleaning facility programs. These programs include 5S, Lean, Cleaning and Safety
  • Ensure all team members follow work instructions, quality requirements, chemical handling procedures, and EHS compliance
  • Ensure accurate chemical processing technician staff data recording. Namely clock-in/clock-out activities
  • Provide continued training and skills development for team members, and mentor early career team members
  • Ensure start-up readiness for production including chemical bath preparation and monitoring
  • Maintain precision cleaning facility organization, safety, and cleanliness
  • Support design for manufacturing and provide job planning estimates
  • Ability to perform interviews, evaluate talent and provide hiring recommendations
  • Safely work within a chemical processing environment with hazardous materials
