The Shift Lead is responsible for the opening and closing procedures of the store when management is absent, which includes managing cash handling, system start-ups, and preparing the sales floor and stock room. This role involves handling product returns, voids, customer refunds, cash drops, and providing change. A key aspect is delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience by engaging customers, resolving issues, and coaching team members on service best practices. Operationally, the Shift Lead holds store keys, assists with warehouse and vendor ordering, ensures accurate inventory counts, manages pricing and signage, and assists with bookkeeping and store maintenance. They also ensure compliance with regulated product laws and company policies, and act as a liaison between management and non-management staff, communicating tasks and reporting issues.
