About The Position

Join Buckelew Programs and play a pivotal role in making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges in the North Bay. We are hiring a Shift Lead to join the Buckelew Suicide Prevention program. In this role, you will be responsible for oversight, consultation, guidance, debriefing, documentation, and leadership of your assigned shift. As the Shift Lead you will conduct follow-up contacts for crisis calls and provide support to crisis hotline counselors during crisis contacts that may require connection to higher levels of care, such as mobile crisis and/or law enforcement. This is a full-time position, working Wednesday - Saturday, 3 PM - 11PM.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, 1+ years of experience providing crisis hotline counseling preferred and/or 1+ years of experience working in a crisis setting required.
  • Must be fluent in English. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in an independent, organized, calm and reassuring manner using good boundaries and good judgment; to be reliable, dependable and flexible; and to accept supervision, suggestions and feedback.
  • Must have interest in working with persons with a behavioral health disability.
  • Ability to work within all the rules, regulations, and policies that govern agency compliance.
  • Organized, responsible, professional, able to work on many projects simultaneously, to be flexible, empathic and able to relate to clients, other professionals, and the general community.
  • Skills MS Office (including Excel and Word) at not less than an intermediate level.
  • Must have excellent oral and written skills, and the ability to communicate with both internal and external contacts.
  • Must be a positive team player.
  • Must have and maintain a valid California driver’s license with an insurable driving record and insured personal car to use on the job.
  • Physically capable of the following intermittent activities: stretching, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, reaching above and below the shoulder, pushing, pulling, grasping and lifting up to 30 pounds in weight.
  • Physically capable of the following extended activities: driving, writing, standing, typing, and sitting.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned documentation of shift, including End of Shift Report, requests for debriefings, and requests for follow-up from the shift
  • Report concerns via email, reports, and in-person to Point-of-Contact, supervisor, and leadership team for the program regarding performance of staff members on assigned shift and operations of assigned shift
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Assist in the orienting, training, and oversight of staff, and volunteer staff (where applicable) for assigned shift.
  • Provide oversight, consultation, guidance, debriefing, documentation, and leadership for assigned shift.
  • Provide direct feedback to staff and volunteers on assigned shift regarding interventions, interactions, and expectations for engaging callers
  • Provide guidance and leadership for staff and volunteers during crisis calls, including supporting warm handoffs and transfers to crisis services
  • Support staff and volunteers in communication with Point of Contact (POC), supervisors/Team Leaders, and Program Leadership as needed
  • Debrief with staff and volunteers at the end of the assigned shift to provide support, provide feedback (positive and constructive), and support ongoing training and guidance
  • Reinforce training expectations and standards of staff and volunteers on assigned shift
  • Ensure call/contact rotation is being adhered to by all staff and volunteers on assigned shift
  • Assist in implementation of services to meet the highest standards of care while adhering to documentation requirements, maximizing the use of evidence based and best practice treatment models and/or industry standard practices.
  • Ensure that services are designed and delivered in a manner that facilitates progress toward identifiable client goals while maintaining a reasonable degree of client satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements applicable to the program are adhered to and/or delivered, including compliance with program certifications (e.g., CARF, American Association of Suicidology, CCL, etc.).
  • Ensure program and staff compliance with all relevant health and safety policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Conduct and document follow-up calls/contacts for crisis calls/contacts requiring follow-up
  • Ensure KPIs for program are being met during assigned shift with regards to call/contact response, timeliness of call/contact engagement, and appropriate interventions and outcomes
  • Oversee, assist, monitor and provide direction to staff in the planning, development, and implementation of caller/contact services.
  • Utilize psycho-social rehabilitation practices to provide general and crisis counseling and guidance with callers/contacts in a manner that facilitates individual growth.
  • Maintain general awareness of clients mental/physical health concerns; respond and report as needs indicate.
  • Provide crisis intervention and crisis management services as needed.
  • Ensure and maintain positive collaboration with community partners and agency/program fundraising efforts.
  • Explore community resources to enrich and compliment client’s lives and program.
