Basic Job Functions:The role of the Shift Electrician is to be part of a team responsible for planning, installation, programming, testing and troubleshooting of electrical machinery and automation systems. The person in this role must diagnose process and equipment problems and take appropriate measures to resolve issues. Applicants must have a thorough understanding of electrical theory, process instrumentation and control systems. The Shift Electrician will assist with general facility functions to maintain the operation of the plant. This position requires work on rotating shifts. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment
  • Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment
  • 2yrs of related industrial electrical or automation experience in a manufacturing facility OR equivalent electrical training OR equivalent military experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years related industrial maintenance and automation experience in a manufacturing facility OR equivalent electrical training OR equivalent military experience
  • Experience performing routine and corrective maintenance on motors, controllers and process measuring devices or equivalent training
  • PLC and HMI programming experience
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic experience
  • Solid knowledge of electrical principles
  • Practical understanding of drives and motors
