About The Position

The Sheriff's Office is seeking self-motivated and dedicated team players for the position of Correctional Deputy. This role involves the custody, supervision, and counseling of inmates within the County Jail, which houses individuals arrested in San Luis Obispo County. Responsibilities include managing the intake, custody, welfare, healthcare, programs, services, transportation, and release of inmates, as well as investigating crimes that arise from custodial assignments. The position requires physical agility and the ability to work in a challenging environment.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate.
• A valid driver's license is required at the time of application and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Completion of P.C. 832 Arrest and Firearms Training within 90 days of appointment.
• Obtain and maintain valid First Aid and CPR training within 6 months of appointment.
• Complete the Standards & Training for Correction (STC), Adult Corrections Officer Core Course within 12 months of appointment.

Responsibilities
