About The Position

The Carson City Sheriff's Office Reserve Unit was established to supplement and assist regular sworn Sheriff's Deputies in their duties. The unit provides professional, sworn volunteer Reserve Deputies who can augment regular staffing levels (NAC 289.065). Individuals in this position may not hold an active Private Investigators license. Please refer to NAC 648.330 for guidance. Please Note: This is an unpaid position. The recruitment process will include an oral interview, a physical agility test, a background investigation, a physical and psychological examination, and a Voice Stress Analysis examination. The POST Physical Fitness Test consists of the following components: 14 inch vertical jump, Illinois Agility Run (19.5 seconds or less), 30 sit ups (1 minute or less), 23 push-ups (no time limit), 300 meter run (68 seconds or less), 1.5 mile run/walk (16:57 minutes: seconds or less).

Requirements

• Equivalent to a high school education or GED.
• Must undergo a complete and documented investigation of background verifying good moral character.
• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
• Must undergo a medical examination confirming no physical condition that would adversely affect performance.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must complete Nevada Reserve P.O.S.T. certification within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Assist regular Deputies in the enforcement of laws and in maintaining peace and order within the community.
• May be assigned to areas within the Office as needed.
• Work a minimum of 12 hours per month with two of the hours to be in the Jail.
• Act only in a supplementary capacity to the regular force.
