The Shelton Promise Program Manager at The Evergreen State College is a pivotal role designed to coordinate, manage, and implement all aspects of the newly funded Shelton Promise Program. This initiative, backed by the Washington State Legislature in their 2024 session, aims to enhance access to higher education for Shelton high school students, who have historically faced lower participation rates compared to the statewide average. The program is set to recruit its first cohort of students in Fall 2025, following a comprehensive planning year. The Shelton Promise Program will provide a range of wrap-around services from enrollment through graduation, including academic and career advising, course registrations, housing assistance, student employment, and internship opportunities. The Program Manager will report directly to the Chief Enrollment Officer and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for the program. This includes collaborating with staff and faculty across various divisions within Evergreen, cultivating strong partnerships with school district personnel, and executing a comprehensive outreach plan to raise awareness within the Shelton community. A significant aspect of this role involves engaging directly with prospective students and their families in Mason County, delivering presentations to diverse audiences, and fostering trust in Evergreen as a viable educational path for students. This is a full-time, overtime-eligible project position located on the Olympia campus, funded for two years from the start date, with the possibility of extension based on program success and additional funding.
